It was hot and steamy in Arkansas this past weekend, but players from Nebraska Senior Softball brought home quite a bit of hardware!
The Nebraska 60s, playing in the Major Division as JW Wood Flooring, captured 2nd place in the 3 day tournament by gutting out 7 games in very humid conditions.
In pool play, the 60s knocked off Sports Image of Missouri with a 3 run bottom of the 7th and battled back against Pope Transport before falling just short.
Bracket play on Saturday started with an opening round win against Mayhem from Oklahoma. The 60s jumped out to an early lead and coasted home for the victory. Sports Image then sent the 60s to the loser’s bracket and avenged their opening day loss to the team.
On Sunday, it was win or go home. The 60s fought their way back to the championship game by knocking out the KC Renegades with 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th for a victory and then, eliminated Pope Transport from the tournament.
In the championship game, despite the 3rd game in 90+ heat, the team was down by 10 runs early and fought back to knot up the game in the top of 7th. However, Sports Image came up with 3 straight wins to capture the title 16-15.
